Headspacing Pre-Cut Long Chambers

A how-to on headspacing rimless cartridge chambers cut long.

This treatise will cover headspacing a rimless cartridge chamber reamed longer than the 0.030 inches required for normal chambering of a “Go” headspace gauge or new cartridge case. Here the barrel shoulder must be moved forward to achieve proper headspace. This is essentially opposite of working with a short chamber where a reamer is used in attaining proper headspace leaving the shoulder unaltered.
